Why should I get an ultrasound? - Pregnancy Care Center Northeast

An ultrasound is important for three reasons.

First, it lets you know how far along you are. This is important even if you are considering abortion because it will determine which procedures you may or may not be eligible for.

Second, it will alert you to a possible ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancies are non-viable pregnancies located outside of the uterus. They pose a threat to your health and can be life-threatening if not treated. Medical care is needed.

Finally, it lets you know if your pregnancy is viable or if you have naturally miscarried.

Sometimes we are so focused on our own struggles that we develop a kind of tunnel vision.
